Vila Nova de Poiares sits in the heart of central Portugal, at the gateway to the Serra da Lousã and the Mondego Valley. The municipality has several river beaches along the River Alva and its tributaries, with crystal-clear water and areas of natural shade.
It is the starting point for Tunes Enjoy's buggy tours. Most routes begin and end here, passing through some of the most hidden beaches in the region.
River beaches of Lousã and the Serra da Lousã
The Serra da Lousã is one of the most photogenic landscapes in central Portugal. With its schist villages, waterfalls and water channels, the area offers river beaches in spots that are hard to reach by ordinary road.

River beaches of Góis
Góis is a neighbouring municipality with an identity all of its own. The river beaches of the River Ceira, near Góis, are known for their cold, clean water and for a sense of calm you rarely find at the more popular river beaches.

Penacova lies in the Mondego Valley, north of Coimbra. Here the River Mondego keeps a serene character, with green banks and river beaches that offer excellent conditions for a swim.
